Job summary

Point Broadband is looking for a skilled fiber optic technician to install, maintain, and repair networks. The role involves splicing and testing fibers, troubleshooting, and ensuring optimal system performance.

Strong project management skills and independent work capability are needed, with knowledge of outside plant construction practices and documentation. Responsibilities include splicing of SM/MM fiber, field testing, reporting, and on-call restoration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Experience in telecommunications, specifically with OSP fiber optics.
• Strong organizational, math, and computer skills with map reading ability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and splice SM fiber cables, outdoors and indoors.
• Construct splice cases with proper grounding, bonding, and sealing.
• Place mid-sheath splices and perform directed splicing with PMs/OSP Engineers.
• Test fiber with OTDR and power meter; report field activity in detail.
• Participate in engineering, permits, and construction processes.
• Adhere to quality control and safety guidelines (OSHA, FCC, NEC, etc.).
• Drive and operate equipment; perform duties with minimal supervision.
