Job summary

LIGHTERA is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Technician for the Avon, CT area on the 2nd shift. The role covers extrusion, braiding, stranding, packaging, optical testing and data entry, with training provided and a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

You will work with Engineering on new processes, support other production tasks and help maintain a clean, 6S-ready workspace in a climate-controlled facility with a competitive shift premium.

Qualifications

• AS or High School Diploma required; technical training preferred.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing experience.
• Extrusion or optical fiber cable experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read drawings.
• Strong math skills and ability to perform conversions.

Responsibilities

• Operate extruder lines and ancillary equipment; verify quality.
• Review work orders, materials, specs and process requirements; test cables.
• Follow safety procedures; handle and dispose chemicals per procedure.
• Support process engineering and troubleshoot equipment to minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean 6S work area and pursue continuous improvement.
• Assist other production roles as needed.
