Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Assembler in Norfolk, VA. The assembler will use drawings and data sheets to fabricate, test and assemble cable assemblies with copper and fiber optic pathways.

Responsibilities include kitting, fiber optic termination, ferrule polishing, and testing for insertion loss and return loss. OTDR-based troubleshooting and FOVIS/end-face inspections are required, with detailed test records maintained.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associates with 2 years related experience.
• Experience in terminating fiber optic cables and polishing fiber ferrules.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic testing.
• Attention to detail in quality control and keeping thorough test data records.
• Familiarity with cleaning methods and maintaining contaminant-free environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform kitting of cable/connector parts and cut cables to required lengths.
• Terminate fiber optic cables and polish ferrules using machine methods.
• Test fiber optic cables for insertion loss and return loss.
• Troubleshoot with optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR).
• Conduct visual inspections with FOVIS and end-face inspection with interferometer.
• Maintain detailed test data records and operate cable analyzers for Hipot testing.
