Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an experienced fiber optic maintenance technician to support our client in Norfolk, VA. The role involves hands-on responsibility for assembling cable assemblies, testing, documenting results, and delivering the finished product on-site with no travel.

Qualified candidates will have 6+ years of fiber optic experience, know how to terminate and fabricate cables, operate test equipment, and read drawings.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in fiber optic maintenance.
• Experience terminating and fabricating fiber optic cables.
• Hands-on assembly of cable assemblies, molded or complex types.
• Ability to prepare specimens, operate test equipment, and document results.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and build documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle of cable assemblies from build to delivery.
• Operate and document testing, report deviations or defects.
• Collaborate with team to ensure on-time on-site delivery.
• On-site work with no travel, Monday–Friday shift.

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an experienced fiber optic maintenance technician to support our client in Norfolk, VA. This candidate will have extensive experience assembling cable assemblies, has a basic understanding of operating testing equipment, documenting testing results, and has a detailed eye for identifying deviations or defects in the cable. This candidate will be hands-on through the complete lifecycle of the assembly, testing, reporting, collaboration, and delivery of the finished product. This candidate will be on-site, no travel is required, working Monday through Friday, 6 am-2:30 pm.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience
• Experience terminating and fabricating fiber optic cables.
• Hands-on experience assembling cable assemblies, specifically molded or complex cable assemblies.
• Ability to prepare test specimens, operate test equipment, and document results, including identifying deviations or defects.
• Ability to read and interpret cable assembly drawings, schematics, and build documentation.
• Knowledgeable following standardized work instructions for cable builds.

• 10+ years of experience
• Former ET in the Navy - 2M Certified
• Background in industrial fiber optic testing
