Job summary

SRI Telecom is seeking a Planning and Design Engineer in Houston, TX to work on OSP mapping and fiber network design. The role involves updating databases for job tracking, issuing designs to contractors, and QC acceptance, with cost estimation and milestone documentation.

Qualifications

• AutoCAD, MicroStation, Spatial or IRIS experience required.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of easement, right-of-way and permit documents preferred.
• Experience in telecom fiber networks design is essential.

Responsibilities

• Review designs for OSP and ISP Fiber layouts, including Patch panel diagrams and cable rack layouts.
• Generate bills of materials, splice sheets, and supporting documentation.
• Review and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of completed designs.
• Maintain design specifications and adhere to quality standards.
• Analyze OTDR traces, document test results, and troubleshoot fiber circuits.
• Identify efficiency gains in current processes and create technical documentation.
• Support Specialists and leadership with fiber design documents, and address requests and complaints.
• Advise, train, and guide other designers as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other assigned duties.
