Job summary

Pearce Services is seeking an OSP Field Engineer to validate fiber network designs on-site, including aerial, buried, and underground facilities across multiple sites. This role requires hands-on data collection, measurements, and GIS data gathering to support engineering and field teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in fiber/telecom construction, a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Travel is extensive.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of outside plant activities and make-ready issues
• Ability to read as-build prints and identify conflicts with existing facilities
• Familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, shapefile functionality
• Able to identify utilities, conflicts, and regulatory violations
• Experience with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD is a plus
• Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and pass drug/background checks

Responsibilities

• Identify and document facilities, cables, poles, handholes, and other OSP infrastructure
• Capture measurements of attachment heights, spans, distances to lines and centerlines
• Identify power and communication facilities on utility poles
• Record bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information
• Deliver field notes and photos to engineering team
• Identify obstructions to fiber placement and propose mitigations
• Read GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings
• Use tools like measuring wheels, GPS devices, and laser rangefinders
• Work with electronic devices (iPad/iPhone/laptop) and file sharing
