Job summary

TDS Telecom is hiring for Outside Plant Construction Technicians in Wisconsin to support horizontal directional drilling and fiber installation. The role involves delivering hands-on outdoor construction, operating drill rigs, splicing, and maintenance across buried and aerial fiber facilities.

You will work in a physical outdoor setting, with travel for training as needed. The position offers a full-time year-round schedule, potential incentives, a sign-on bonus of $5,000, and relocation

Qualifications

• Required: 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical/utility construction or technical certification (or higher) or military service.
• Must follow attendance guidelines and have a valid driver's license; DOT eligibility.
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL; CDL training offered after hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal directional drill or locate for the drill.
• Restore job sites with accurate labels/markings.
• Support fiber splicing and repair activities.
• Climb poles, ladders, and structures; operate bucket trucks as needed.
• Install, maintain, test, and repair buried and aerial fiber lines.
• Operate trenchers, plows, excavators, and locators.
• Set pedestals, vaults, handholes, and other outside plant infrastructure.
