Job summary

Nextlink Internet is seeking a senior leader to build and manage an in-house fiber design and engineering group in Hudson Oaks, TX. You will set design standards, supervise designers and field engineers, and partner with leadership to plan routes and expand the network.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, strong project management, and ensuring designs are accurate, compliant, and construction-ready across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Proven experience leading OSP fiber design teams.
• Strong communication and project management skills in fast-growth environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and growth of Nextlink’s internal fiber design and engineering team.
• Establish and maintain design workflows, engineering standards, and best practices.
• Mentor designers and field engineers; manage performance and career development.
• Collaborate with leadership on fiber route planning and network expansion.
• Review and approve fiber designs for permitting and construction readiness.
• Coordinate with construction, network engineering and operations for field execution.
• Manage external vendors and ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
