Job summary

TDS Telecom in Missoula, MT is seeking a Fiber Construction Technician to support outdoor plant construction for PON/fiber optic networks. The role includes training for a Class A CDL and exposure to pole climbing, bucket trucks, and splicing equipment.

The position emphasizes safety, manual labor, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Prior construction or military background is valued and on-the-job CDL certification is provided.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, or technical certification.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be eligible for DOT requirements.
• Willing to follow attendance guidelines and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Performs general construction labor in various weather conditions while utilizing safety fundamentals.
• Assists with and performs the transportation of required construction equipment to and from the worksite.
• Assists with and performs the placement of new aerial and buried fiber according to maps, staking sheets, and locate markings.
• Uses hand tools, cable locators, and test equipment.
