Job summary

TDS Telecom is hiring a Fiber Construction Technician in Missoula, MT to perform outside plant labor for PON/fiber optic networks. You’ll assist with installation of buried and aerial fibers, training opportunities, and safety-focused work in varied weather conditions.

You will gain in-house CDL training, pole climbing, bucket truck exposure, and hands-on experience with drilling rigs, excavators, and testing equipment. Some relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, or technical certification.
• Must follow attendance guidelines to meet business needs and customer requirements.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs general construction labor in various weather conditions while applying safety fundamentals.
• Assists with and transports required construction equipment to/from the worksite.
• Assists with placement of new aerial and buried fiber per maps and locate markings.
• Uses hand tools, cable locators, and test equipment.
• Installs and/or sets enclosures, vaults, pedestals, and handholes (buried and aerial).
• Climbs poles, ladders, towers, and uses bucket trucks when needed.
• Marks/labels fiber optic and copper facilities and documents work.
• Completes related paperwork promptly and supports field service technicians.
