Job summary

TDS Telecom is seeking a Fiber Construction Technician in Great Falls, MT, to support outside plant construction for PON/fiber networks. You will assist with installation, underground and aerial fiber, and related tasks, with in-house CDL training available.

Training can lead to Class A CDL; duties include climbing, equipment transport, and splicing; safety and DOT requirements apply. Benefits and overtime may be available.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in customer service, electrical or utility construction, –OR– technical certification –OR– military service.
• Must follow attendance guidelines and be reliable for DOT requirements.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible for DOT requirements.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL; in-house CDL certification possible after hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs general construction labor in various weather conditions with safety Fundamentals.
• Transport and position required construction equipment to and from the worksite.
• Place new aerial and buried fiber according to maps and locate markings.
• Use hand tools, cable locators, and test equipment; install enclosures and vaults.
• Climb poles, ladders, towers, and operate bucket truck as needed.
• Label fiber optic and copper facilities; perform fiber splicing and repairs.
• Complete paperwork promptly; assist field services technicians; support outside plant maintenance.
