IAPMO is seeking a Fiber Construction Manager in Phoenix, AZ to lead fiber infrastructure projects from planning to turnover. The role requires coordinating engineering and field teams, contractors, and permitting, ensuring on-time delivery with quality and safety at the forefront.

The ideal candidate has hands-on fiber/telecom construction experience, understands aerial and underground methods, and can travel regularly to active sites to resolve field issues and keep projects moving.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or leading fiber/telecommunications construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) fiber construction.
  • Understanding of aerial and underground construction methods.
  • Experience supervising construction contractors and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with permitting and working with municipalities, utilities, or other governing bodies.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to identify and resolve field construction issues.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to active project locations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple fiber construction projects from planning through turnover.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, field personnel, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Review projects to identify construction challenges and requirements.
  • Manage third-party contractors and monitor schedules, costs, and quality.
  • Support bidding, selection, and scoping for projects.
  • Lead aerial and underground fiber construction activities.
  • Coordinate permits, utility approvals, and access agreements.
  • Work with municipalities and utilities throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Monitor schedules and address delays or field conflicts proactively.
  • Review progress and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Track project costs and negotiate scope changes with contractors.
  • Maintain project documentation and provide progress updates.
  • Resolve field issues and coordinate with engineering and stakeholders.
  • Assist with project closeout and ensure outstanding items are completed.
