Individuals in this role perform responsible work aboard U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels. Work assessment is supervised by the Able-Bodied Seaman and Ferry Master, focusing on safety related to the boarding, loading, and unloading of passengers and vehicles. Additional duties include maintaining deck and electrical/mechanical equipment, passenger facilities, and enforcing safety and security regulations per U.S. Coast Guard standards. Employees may also perform shore duties and other assigned tasks.
This position is based at the Southport Ferry Operations and involves shift work—7 days on, 7 days off.

Required qualifications include possession of a valid Ordinary Seaman Certificate issued by the US Coast Guard and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) issued by TSA.
