The State of North Carolina is seeking individuals for a position with NCDOT that involves operating U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels. Individuals in this role perform responsible work on board U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels. Work assessment is based on safety and duties related to the operation, loading, and unloading of passengers and vehicles. Responsibilities include maintaining deck and electrical/mechanical equipment, passenger facilities, and enforcing safety and security regulations per U.S. Coast Guard standards. Shore duties and other tasks may also be assigned.

Work location: Hatteras Ferry Operations.
This position involves shift work—7 days on, 7 days off.
Dormitory housing may be available during shifts.
A copy of both TWIC and a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential, including a current medical card, must be presented at the interview.
