Individuals in this role perform responsible work on board U.S. Coast Guard certified vessels. Work is supervised by the Able-Bodied Seaman and Ferry Master, focusing on safety related to passenger and vehicle loading/unloading. Duties include maintaining deck and electrical/mechanical equipment and passenger facilities. Employees are responsible for enforcing safety and security regulations per U.S. Coast Guard guidelines. Shore duties and other tasks may be assigned.
This position operates out of Southport Ferry Operations and involves shift work—7 days on, 7 days off.
Applicants must present a valid TWIC and USCG Merchant Mariner Credential, including a current medical card, during the interview process.
