20BLOC in Thousand Oaks, CA seeks a hands-on Fermentation Scientist to drive bench-top bioreactor fermentations and support downstream recovery. You will work at the interface of upstream process development and purification, contributing to tech transfer and scale-up efforts.

The role requires a BS/MS in a relevant field and 2+ years of fermentation experience, with strong data recording and problem-solving skills. On-site, full-time position with competitive benefits.

Competenze

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant field with hands-on fermentation experience (2+ years).
• Strong understanding of fermentation fundamentals and sterile technique.
• Knowledge of downstream protein recovery operations and chromatography basics.
• Excellent record-keeping, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Office.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours as needed.

Mansioni

• Set up, sterilize, calibrate, and operate 5L bench-top bioreactor systems for microbial fermentation runs.
• Prepare media, feed solutions, and inoculum trains per protocols.
• Execute fed-batch and batch fermentations with induction strategies (e.g., methanol, IPTG).
• Monitor pH/DO/temperature, troubleshoot deviations, and document results.
• Analyze in-process samples (OD600, weights, metabolites) to track performance.
• Maintain fermentation records, assist SOPs, and support tech transfer.
