Job summary

Manus is seeking a Fermentation Engineer to join our process development team in Augusta, GA. This hands-on role focuses on fermentation science, development, and scale-up of microbial bioprocesses for industrial biotechnology applications.

You will execute lab- and pilot-scale fermentations, analyze data, and collaborate across functions to improve yield and productivity. The ideal candidate has a PhD or MS with substantial relevant experience, strong technical skills in bench and pilot-scale

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in fermentation sciences or related field.
• Experience with bench- and pilot-scale fermentation process development.
• Knowledge of microbial physiology.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize fermentation processes from bench to pilot scale.
• Set up and operate lab- and pilot-scale bioreactors (1–4000 L).
• Prepare media, inoculum, and sterile systems; use aseptic techniques.
• Analyze data to improve yield, titer, and productivity.
• Maintain records and ensure GMP or quality guidelines where applicable.
• Collaborate across teams for technology transfer to manufacturing.
