Job summary

Lesaffre Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Process Operator to ensure quality yeast production by following procedures and performing sanitation tasks. The role reports to the Process Supervisor and may receive direction from the CY/NUT Supervisor.

The position follows a rotating day shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The candidate will adhere to safety, GMP, and food safety rules and may train in other departments as needed, with the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team environment and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Ability to follow instructions, learn, and ask questions.
• Good people and communication skills.
• Ability to manage time and plan ahead.
• Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Mathematical/Basic Science skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow established fermentation procedures and adjust processes or equipment.
• Notify Supervisor of equipment failures or major fermentation problems.
• Follow the production schedule.
• Perform cleaning (CIP) and syrup/raw materials procedures.
• Read and understand material safety data for chemicals used in fermentation.
• Work safely around chemicals and follow precautions.
• Run the separation of the yeast after fermentation.
• Comply with safety, GMP, and food safety rules.
• Record and maintain information for fermentation, CIP, and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
• Assist with syrup/molasses processes and cross-train in other departments.
