Job summary

Lesaffre North America in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Process Operator to ensure production of high-quality yeast products by following established fermentation procedures and performing sanitation duties. The role reports to the Process Supervisor and follows a rotating day shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• Ability to follow instructions, learn, and ask questions.
• Good people and communication skills.
• Ability to manage time and plan ahead.
• Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Mathematical/Basic Science skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate fermentation following established procedures and adjust processes or equipment.
• Notify Supervisor of equipment failures and major fermentation problems or variations.
• Follow the production schedule.
• Follow CIP cleaning and syrup/raw materials procedures.
• Read and understand material safety data sheets for chemicals used in the fermentation process.
• Run the separation of the yeast after fermentation.
• Comply with safety, GMP, and food safety rules of the plant.
• Record and maintain accurate written and electronic information for fermentation and related processes.
• Communicate and interact with other employees, customers, and management in a respectful manner.
• Train and work in other departments as needed.
