Job summary

Manus is seeking a Fermentation Engineer II in Augusta, GA to lead fermentation process development from lab to pilot and commercial scales. The role emphasizes robust, cost-effective operations and interfaces with R&D and manufacturing teams.

You will apply microbial physiology knowledge, optimize growth and production, and use DOE/statistical tools to improve yield, titer, and process robustness. This hands-on role is based in Augusta.

Qualifications

• PhD with 5+ years in Industrial Fermentation Sciences, Engineering or related field.
• Experience with bench and pilot-scale fermentation processes.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, LC).
• Experience with fermentation modeling and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize fermentation processes (batch, fed-batch, continuous).
• Lead scale-up activities from lab to pilot and production scales.
• Develop CPPs/CQAs and support regulatory/commercial submissions as applicable.
• Analyze data with advanced analytics and modeling.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with strain engineering, downstream processing, and manufacturing.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure safety/compliance.
