Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking an Estimator for Commercial Fencing & Railings & Structural Steel in Owings Mills, MD. You will prepare detailed estimates for stairs, railings, structural steel, and architectural metals, performing quantity takeoffs and building complete project costs.

This role requires strong reading of drawings, fabrication knowledge, and proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, and Excel. Local candidates only.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of fence and railing construction estimating experience.
• 5+ years estimating structural steel and related fabrication trades.
• Ability to read architectural, structural and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and shop production requirements.
• Experience with Bluebeam and Procore required.
• Valid driver's license and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for stairs, railings, structural steel and metals.
• Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and Excel.
• Build complete project costs including materials, labor, finishes, installation and permits.
• Visit renovation sites to survey conditions and pricing.
• Review projects for IBC/ADA compliance and code issues.
• Create professional proposals and support negotiations through award.
• Guide bid strategy and pursue opportunities.
• Review junior estimator work and maintain quality standards.
• Collaborate with Project Management for smooth turnover.
• Analyze estimate-to-actual performance and improve pricing accuracy.
• Maintain opportunities in HubSpot and Procore.

What You'll Be Doing

• Prepare detailed estimates for stairs, railings, structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and architectural metals
• Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and Excel
• Build complete project costs including materials, fabrication labor, finishes, installation, engineering, permits, and equipment
• Visit renovation sites to survey existing conditions and develop repair or replacement pricing
• Review projects for IBC and ADA compliance and identify code-related concerns
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricingCreate professional proposals and support negotiations through award
• Provide guidance on bid strategy and strategic pursuits
• Review junior estimator work and maintain estimating quality standards
• Partner with Project Management to ensure smooth project turnover
• Analyze estimate-to-actual performance and continuously improve pricing accuracy
• Maintain opportunities and pipeline activity in HubSpot and Procore

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 7+ years of Fence & Railing construction estimating experience
• 5+ years estimating structural steel, miscellaneous metals, ornamental metals, architectural metals, or related fabrication trades
• Strong ability to read architectural, structural, and shop drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication processes and shop production requirements
• Working knowledge of stair, guardrail, and handrail code requirements
• Experience with Bluebeam, Procore a must
• Proven track record of accurate, profitable bids
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Valid driver's license

Bonus Points For

• Multifamily or Commercial renovation project experience
• Existing relationships with Mid-Atlantic property managers, contractors, or engineers
• Construction Management or Engineering degree
• HubSpot CRM experience
