Job summary

Chicago Cat Clinic in Chicago, IL seeks a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to support veterinarians in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and lab testing. Open to non-credentialed technicians who possess equivalent skills, you will assist with patient care, client education, and maintaining clinical workflow.

This full-time on-site role requires a state license to work as a veterinary technician, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and solid communication.

Qualifications

• State license to work as a certified/licensed veterinary technician
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts with help
• OSHA safety techniques and PPE usage
• Basic computer skills and math for dosages

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed
• Take histories, vitals, and client education during exams
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital labs
• Take and maintain radiographs following safety procedures
• Handle and restrain animals during exams
• Administer medications and monitor treatments as directed
• Maintain cleanliness and restock exam and lab areas
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients
• Communicate with veterinarians and team about patient plans
