Job summary

Sheridan in Grand Rapids is hiring a Manufacturing Associate - Press (We’ll Train You!). This entry-level role trains you to run high-speed bindery equipment and become proficient in press operations on a fast-paced production floor.

No prior bindery experience is required. Candidates with basic mechanical aptitude, reliability, and the ability to read instructions are encouraged to apply. Training, safety PPE, and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in any industry.
• High school Diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, and manuals.
• Basic math skills and measuring ability.
• Basic problem solving skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with basic tools.
• Read and follow job instructions and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining register, fold, and compensation, identifying and correcting issues.
• Monitor signature quality by following SOPs for quality.
• Assist in webbing up press.
• Set up press equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Perform hand operations as required.
• Work as part of a team to hit daily production goals.
• Inspect finished products for quality against standards.
• Follow safety procedures and keep workspace clean.

What You’ll Do

• Assists in maintaining register, fold, and compensation, identifying and correcting issues
• Monitors signature quality by assisting in setting and monitoring color by following Sheridan’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for quality
• Assist in webbing up press
• Assist in setting up/operating equipment by setting up press computers, units, folders, andauxiliary equipment and performing preventative maintenance
• Perform hand operations as required
• Work as part of a team to hit daily production goals
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
• Follow safety procedures and help maintain a clean, organized workspace

What We’re Looking For

No bindery experience? No problem—we’ll train you.

We’re looking for people who:

• Have experience operating machinery in any industry (manufacturing, warehouse, trades, etc.)
• High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, workplace, and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Basic math skills, add subtract, and ability to use a measuring device
• Basic problem‑solving skills
• Are mechanically inclined and comfortable using basic tools
• Can read basic job instructions and measurements
• Take pride in doing quality work
• Show up reliably and work well with a team

It’s a plus if you have:

• Print, bindery, or finishing experience
• Experience setting up or adjusting production equipment

Physical & Work Environment

• On your feet for most of the shift
• Fast‑paced, team‑oriented production floor
• Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
