Feed Sales Account Specialist - Grass Cattle

Position: Feed Sales Account Specialist - Grass Cattle

We are hiring a sales specialist focused on animal nutrition sales within the Western/Northwest Arkansas area. This role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with Purina team members to increase feed sales, focusing on improving profitability using Purina technology. The primary emphasis will be on grass cattle (80%) and equine.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based sales position, requiring residence within Western or Northwest Arkansas.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct targeted prospect calls to develop new and existing business, actively calling on customers in the field.
  2. Analyze sales results to identify growth opportunities, address underperforming areas, and accelerate business segments.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute sales growth strategies incorporating Purina feed programs and technologies.
  4. Develop training programs tailored to farm needs.
  5. Work with local Arkansas team and sales leadership to create annual business growth plans and strategic initiatives.
  6. Maintain accurate client records and provide tracking reports within the CRM system.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related agricultural field preferred; candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • 5-6 years of experience in animal science, nutrition, or feed, with a proven sales record.
  • Solid understanding of the grass cattle industry, management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
  • Strong skills in cold calling, relationship building, public speaking, and teamwork.
  • Basic knowledge of animal nutrition and management recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% overnight.
Compensation:

This sales role offers a target mix of base salary plus commission. The base salary typically ranges from $87,000 to $107,000, depending on experience, with an annual incentive target of $30,000.

Note: Candidates are usually hired near the middle of the salary range.
