Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Feed Mill Operator to tend, operate, and oversee all mill areas, ensuring quality, productivity, and safety. The role requires following procedures, operating equipment, and maintaining shift records, with potential 50-hour weeks including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities include managing material flow, inventory, and compliance with environmental and EMS policies, while striving for continuous improvement under ISO22000.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read safety rules, maintenance instructions and procedures.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Willing to work up to 50 hours per week, including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Willing to learn and perform different areas of the feed mill process.
• Must be cooperative and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow operating instructions in all operator areas and maintain records.
• Operate equipment and tools in all areas.
• Prepare and maintain shift activity and production reports.
• Regulate material flow to meet target products.
• Perform daily feed, bulk and micro ingredient inventory.
• Maintain a clean work area and assist co-workers.
• Ensure safety of employees and assets.
• Maintain certifications (weigh master, forklift).
• Comply with environmental laws and Smithfield IPS/EMS policies.
• Report environmental issues and follow emergency notifications.
• Support continuous improvement under ISO22000.
