Job summary

Smithfield Foods is hiring a Feed Mill Operator to tend, operate, and oversee all mill areas—receiving, batching, production floor, and loadout—to ensure quality, productivity, and safety. You will follow SOPs, operate equipment (grinders, forklift, computer), and maintain shift and production reports.

The role requires reading English, basic computer skills, and willingness to work ~50 hours per week including nights and weekends; safety and teamwork are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to work ~50 hour weeks, including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Team oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs for all operator areas, including batching and pelleting, with record keeping.
• Operate equipment/tools (computer, grinders, forklift, etc.) in all areas.
• Prepare and maintain shift activity reports and production/reconciliation reports.
• Regulate flow of materials to meet product targets.
• Perform daily feed, bulk and micro ingredient inventory.
• Keep designated area clean and support coworkers.
• Maintain safety of employees and assets.
• Acquire and maintain necessary certifications (weigh master, forklift).
• Comply with environmental laws and EMS policies in performance of duties.
• Report environmental issues to supervisor; follow ISO22000 Feed Safety & Quality.
