Job Title: Federal Work Study: Student Worker- Financial Wellness Peer Mentor

Job Location: Commerce, Texas

Job Type: Student Worker

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Peer Mentorship – 60% Conduct one-on-one financial mentoring sessions with ETAMU students. Support students in building financial knowledge, skills, mindset, and behaviors. Maintain accurate, confidential records of session attendance, general topics, and outcomes. Make appropriate referrals to professional advisors, counseling, or other campus resources when needed.
  2. Presentation, Workshops, and Resource Development – 30% Create engaging financial wellness resources (handouts, infographics, videos, or interactive tools). Lead or co-lead group workshops and presentations. Participate in outreach activities including tabling events, classroom visits, and campus awareness campaigns. Actively contribute ideas for program improvement.
  3. Professional and Personal Development – 10% Complete required training modules and skill-building activities. Attend weekly team meetings and participate in ongoing professional development.
Minimum Requirements
  • GPA 2.50+
  • Holds an active work study permit or is eligible for work study
Preferred Education / Skills / Experience
  • Strong interest in financial wellness, personal finance, or helping others succeed
  • Comfortable engaging with peers in one-on-one mentoring conversations
  • Willingness to present or co-facilitate workshops in front of small groups
  • Good listening skills and a supportive, non-judgmental attitude
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing training and program responsibilities
  • Note: No prior experience is required. We provide comprehensive training and ongoing support.
