Job summary

GovExec seeks a reporter to cover emerging technologies in the federal government, including AI and quantum computing, with focus on policy and key officials. The role covers the White House, OMB and civilian agencies.

The ideal candidate will have strong reporting, the ability to explain complex tech stories to a broad audience, and a track record of deadline-driven journalism in a federal tech context. Hybrid remote/work options in the DC area are available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of reporting experience
• Experience covering technology issues in the federal government
• Strong writing, analytical skills and deadline-driven reporting

Responsibilities

• Write breaking news stories and enterprise features for digital and print
• Develop sources and leverage them to produce original reporting
• Attend events, moderate panel discussions and conduct recorded interviews when necessary
• Contribute to other editorial projects as needed.
