GovExec’s Nextgov/FCW seeks a reporter to cover emerging technologies in the federal government, including AI, quantum computing, and other cutting-edge areas. The role focuses on civilian agencies, the White House, and the Office of Management and Budget, requiring a sharp writer who can find sources, explain complex policy, and deliver timely stories.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of news reporting experience.
• Experience covering technology or federal government.
• Strong writing and analytics with high attention to detail.
• Ability to digest complex information and report on deadline.

Responsibilities

• Writing breaking news stories and enterprise features for digital and print.
• Developing key sources and leveraging them to produce original reporting.
• Attending events, moderating panel discussions and conducting recorded interviews when necessary.
• Contributing to other editorial projects as needed.
