Job summary

HDR is seeking a Technology Director for its Federal Business Group to lead strategic technology initiatives, drive modern solutions, and guide a team in delivering secure, compliant technology across Federal programs.

You will collaborate with Federal leadership, HDR Corporate Technology, and Delivery teams to define roadmaps, govern standards, and ensure scalable digital delivery and innovative capabilities across HDR’s government projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated experience executing projects involving technological solutions within the AEC industry for Federal clients.
  • Knowledge of Federal cybersecurity frameworks and requirements including NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, CMMC, and CUI.
  • Experience evaluating technology, and software development and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluation of emerging technologies relevant to Federal programs: Establish performance indicators and metrics to evaluate technology adoption, operational efficiency, project quality, user engagement, and business value realized from technology investments.
  • Drive technology innovation that supports Federal professional services delivery: Champion innovation that enhances Federal program performance, resilience, security, and compliance, such as digital twins, advanced analytics, automation, and secure cloud adoption.
  • Represent the FBG in enterprise technology planning: In addition to delivery platforms, represent Federal program requirements, elaborate technology solution business cases, security, accreditation, data sovereignty, FedRAMP, and CUI handling, ensuring enterprise technology decisions support Federal delivery constraints.
  • Active membership and participation in the HDR Technology Leadership Team (TLT): Attend TLT meetings, actively participate in, and collaborate across the group to represent the FBG in enterprise technology leadership forums, develop innovative industry leading solutions, optimize technology return on investment, and drive technology adoption, automation, AI/ML, and business system advancement across HDR.
  • Develop and align technology visions and roadmaps for Federal Market Sectors and Delivery Teams: Create and maintain a FBG Technology Strategy and technology implementation roadmaps that reflect Federal priorities such as digital transformation, infrastructure modernization, resilience, and mission critical system performance.
  • Partner with Corporate Technology to ensure Federal compliant platforms and investments: Ensure enterprise platforms meet Federal standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, RMF, CUI, Classified) and support secure collaboration, modeling, analytics, and digital delivery for Federal clients.
  • Standardize workflows and delivery practices for Federal programs: Develop consistent, compliant approaches for digital delivery, modeling, data management, and documentation that align with Federal requirements and agency specific standards.
  • Lead evaluation and adoption of shared technology solutions for Federal delivery: Guide selection of tools for secure digital delivery, AI/ML, automation, optimization, and visualization that meet Federal cybersecurity and accreditation requirements.
  • Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technology solutions such as AI/ML for Federal delivery across all Business Groups: Guide the evaluation, piloting, and selection of AI/ML tools, including QA/QC tools, that drive efficiency, productivity, fees, QC checking, opportunities, while effectively managing risk. Coordinate with project teams and clients to develop innovative industry leading solutions.
  • Lead FBG proposals for investment in technology: Collaborate with FBG leadership, across Business Groups, Federal Project Managers, and others to develop proposals for investment in technology that drive innovative and industry leading solutions, enhance quality, and improve productivity.
  • Define technology capability requirements necessary to support Federal programs: Coordinate with Corporate IT to secure high performance compute capabilities, modeling tools, secure cloud environments, and enterprise licensing to support Federal workloads and data protections.
  • Participate in technology governance with a Federal compliance lens: Support policy development, software validation, lifecycle management, and configuration control aligned with Federal standards (NIST SP 800 53, RMF, and agency specific requirements).
  • Enable collaboration and knowledge sharing across all Business Groups: Connect Federal focused teams to share lessons learned, promote reusable solutions, secure workflows, and drive adoption of best practices across DoD, Civilian, and Intelligence sectors.
  • Foster Federal technology talent and workforce development: Develop and support a pipeline of professionals skilled in secure digital delivery, Federal data management, modeling, AI, cloud capabilities, and other technologies aligned with Federal mission needs.
  • Promote and communicate technology strategies to Federal stakeholders to inspire adoption and maximize business value (ROI): Translate complex technology concepts into clear, mission aligned messaging for Federal clients, program managers, contracting officers, and internal leadership.
  • Support implementation of enterprise or shared solutions within Federal programs: Ensure Federal teams successfully adopt enterprise platforms and tools while maintaining compliance with security, accreditation, and data handling requirements.
  • Integrate innovation with Federal risk management and compliance: Balance innovation with security, compliance, and operational risk by ensuring emerging technologies align with Federal accreditation requirements, cybersecurity frameworks, and HDR governance.
  • Promote thought leadership in Federal technology domains: Advance the organization’s visibility in Federal technology communities through publications, conferences, industry groups, and leadership roles in Federal focused technology forums.
  • Provide cross sector, cross-Business Group technology expertise for major Federal pursuits and programs: Support capture teams, proposals, and large Federal programs with technology strategy, digital delivery approaches, and secure solution architectures.
  • Develop Federal aligned technology guidelines and validation processes: Create standards for software use, validation, and documentation that meet Federal audit, accreditation, and lifecycle requirements.
  • Lead FBG data stewardship: Coordinate with HDR Data Ops, Business Class Leaders, and Business Class Data Stewards to define terms and provide FBG context, support data classification, define and enable responsible reuse, build a network of Business Class and discipline SMEs across Business Groups.
  • Lead and participate in technology related committees and working groups: Represent FBG interests by leading or participating in committees and working groups such as the CUI Steering Committee, CUI Working Group, Enclave Working Group, Digital Design Summit, and others.
