Job summary

Plante Moran is looking for an Intern in our tax consulting team to gain hands-on exposure to federal tax planning, research, and client work. You will assist with consulting on tax strategies, document research, and contribute to memo drafting across various industries.

You'll work alongside seasoned professionals, develop deep technical tax knowledge, and build skills in tax planning, regulatory analysis, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and research skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and desire to develop deep tax knowledge.
• Strong interest in federal taxation, tax consulting, and technical tax research.
• Ability to analyze complex tax matters and communicate findings clearly and professionally.
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation with intention to pursue CPA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Consulting on tax planning strategies to achieve business and individual tax objectives.
• Reviewing opportunities to optimize the timing of tax income and deductions through accounting method planning.
• Evaluating tax planning strategies resulting from legislation, regulations, and market developments.
• Researching technical positions and drafting memos and other position papers for federal tax matters.
• Assisting with federal tax consulting projects involving corporate, partnership, and individual taxation across industries.
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and developing practical recommendations for clients.
• Assisting National Tax Office professionals with technical research and analysis of legislative, regulatory, and administrative tax developments.
• Engaging with staff and clients to deepen tax knowledge across service lines.
• Deepen knowledge in tax and tax consulting through exposure to both service lines.
