Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems, based in Washington D.C., seeks an Electronic Security Technician for the FEMA Headquarters and other FEMA sites. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, and service of electronic security systems including access control and CCTV.

Responsibilities include design assistance, testing, coordination with emergency services, and end-user training. Requires DoD clearance and a willingness to travel to FEMA locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing commercial/industrial integrated security systems (low voltage, intrusion, access control, CCTV).
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Capable of using hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment.
• Works well unsupervised and in a team environment.
• Active DoD Secret clearance (or recently active). Top Secret preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and service ESS including access controls, intrusion, and cameras.
• Install, troubleshoot and service security devices and infrastructure per installation plan and NEC guidelines.
• Assist with security system design, setup and programming.
• Participate in technical design reviews and recommend improvements.
• Test equipment operation after installation or repair.
• Test system signal to the receiving center to confirm service.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and records for emergency notifications.
• Prepare estimates as directed by supervisor.
• End-User training.
• Work safely and clean up installation debris.
