Job summary

Granite Construction Company in California is seeking a Safety and Health Manager to lead the development and management of the Safety and Health Management System for a designated region, ensuring alignment with policy and regulatory requirements.

You will supervise safety professionals, drive incident prevention, and implement comprehensive safety programs, inspections, and trainings to protect workers and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Occupational Health or related field required.
• CHST/CSP/CMSP certification preferred; minimum 5 years of construction safety experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop safety professionals to ensure effective incident prevention.
• Administer and manage compliance with the safety program and regional incident prevention efforts to meet safety goals.
• Provide a strategic vision for creating safe work areas for employees and public welfare.
• Develop and implement safety programs meeting company safety standards to ensure general safety of all work.
• Initiate and document jobsite inspections with emphasis on hazard recognition and corrective actions.
• Coordinate and conduct safety meetings and training to communicate company policy and standards.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Develop and review job hazard analyses for major project phases to ensure safe completion.
• Investigate and maintain records of third-party, asset loss and workers' compensation claims.
• Coordinate with corporate insurance on high value claims and preserve documentation.
