Job summary

Industria, Inc. seeks a dual-hat Quality Control Manager (CQCM) / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to lead daily QC and site-safety programs on assigned federal construction projects in the Chicago area.

This role blends field inspection, documentation, planning, and subcontractor coordination to meet contract, quality, and safety requirements. You will develop and maintain QC and Accident Prevention Plans, conduct meetings, perform daily inspections, review drawings, coordinate testing,

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of construction experience with a general contractor, including quality-control and site-safety responsibility on federal or public projects.
  • Current U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) certification within the past five years.
  • OSHA 30-Hour and EM 385 40-Hour training within the past five years.
  • Current or obtainable OSHA HAZWOPER, NAVFAC ECATTS, and CPR/First Aid credentials, as required by assigned projects.
  • Broad knowledge of construction materials, methods, scopes of work, inspection practices, and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency with construction management platforms and standard business software.
  • Strong judgment, punctuality, diplomacy, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and work at remote project locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel or temporarily relocate based on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Control and Accident Prevention Plans in accordance with contract requirements, EM 385, OSHA, and company standards.
  • Administer the three-phase control process by conducting and documenting preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings for each definable feature of work.
  • Perform daily field inspections and prepare accurate QC and safety reports; identify nonconforming work and drive timely corrective action.
  • Maintain submittal logs, inspection and testing records, safety documentation, and other required project reports.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, plans, and specifications for conformance and coordinate technical reviews with the project team.
  • Verify incoming materials match approved submittals and are properly received, stored, protected, and released for use.
  • Coordinate required testing, inspections, commissioning, and documentation of building systems.
  • Lead and document weekly quality and safety meetings with the Superintendent and project team.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain complete AHAs, certifications, lift plans, training records, and other required safety documentation before work begins.
  • Collect and maintain toolbox talks, equipment inspections, safety-meeting records, and other compliance documentation.
