Johnson Controls Federal Systems in Rockville, MD is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Federal Systems team. The role focuses on prevailing wage, SCA/DBA rules, and compliance, supporting the weekly/biweekly payroll for about 850 employees from time collection to payment and reconciliation.

You will ensure accurate payroll processing, assist with general ledger reconciliation, and maintain certified payroll documentation, while coordinating with subcontractors and implementing payroll

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in payroll processing.
• Thorough knowledge of the Department of Labor prevailing rules and regulations.
• Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Customer service oriented.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs.
• Willing and able to work in a deadline driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, and assist with general ledger and account reconciliation.
• Process weekly ADP payroll and timesheets in Deltek Time, ensuring accuracy and timely paychecks.
• Prepare Davis Bacon Act and Service Contract Act benefit calculations and ensure proper wage payments.
• Process certified payroll reports and submit payroll docs to contractors.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to explain prevailing wage requirements and monitor compliance.
• Implement and research certified payroll software as needed.
