Job summary

Akumen, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support planning, coordination, and delivery of IT projects in a federal government environment.

You will work closely with government stakeholders, technical teams, and Project Managers to align priorities, maintain documentation, and ensure successful service delivery. The role requires a PMP certification, 4+ years in IT project management, and strong writing skills for technical documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or IT Management (or equivalent related field experience)
• PMP certification required
• 4+ years of experience in the Information Technology field
• 3+ years of experience in writing technical documents
• 3+ years of experience in a client facing role; federal clients preferred
• Knowledge of developing, implementing, and monitoring IT program and project delivery

Responsibilities

• Support project planning and execution, including development and maintenance of project objectives, technical approaches, schedules, milestones, risks, issues, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with government customers, development teams, Systems Engineers, and other program resources to align application support and development activities with organizational priorities and requirements.
• Manage project change and configuration activities, including tracking change requests, reviewing open issues, maintaining configuration baselines, and communicating updates to stakeholders.
• Support program testing activities by coordinating testing schedules, documentation, issue tracking, and communication between technical teams and stakeholders.
• Monitor service delivery processes, service agreements, and IT operational metrics to identify risks, performance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and maintain program and technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test plans, reference materials, training guides, status reports, and other project artifacts.
• Support SharePoint administration and maintenance of program document repositories, ensuring project information is organized, current, and accessible to appropriate stakeholders.
