Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a qualified cost estimator to join our Federal programs team in the United States. This role focuses on preparing detailed, discipline-specific cost estimates using MII, RSMeans, PACES, and Success Estimator in accordance with FAR and agency requirements.

You will analyze proposals, interpret drawings, and develop documentation for government review while collaborating with project managers, COS, and engineers to align costs with scope and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a college degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed, discipline-specific, and total project cost estimates using industry-standard cost estimating tools in accordance with FAR/DFARS.
• Analyze contractor cost proposals, bids, and change orders for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Interpret drawings and specs to develop cost estimates at various design stages.
• Develop and maintain cost models, pricing databases, and historical data.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure consistency between estimates and scopes.
• Support value engineering by evaluating alternate materials or methods for cost, schedule, and performance.
• Prepare cost analyses and narratives for government review and audit purposes.
• Evaluate risk and contingency requirements based on project complexity and market conditions.
