Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a cost estimator to prepare detailed, discipline-specific cost estimates for federal projects. You will analyze bids, reference UFC standards, and support lifecycle cost analyses. Travel to field sites may be required as part of project delivery.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contracting officers to ensure compliant, constructible, and well-documented estimates. A strong focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and pass a federal background check.
  • Experience with FAR, DFARS, and other federal regulations.
  • Proficient in cost estimation tools and government standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates using MCACES II, PACES, RSMeans, and Success Estimator per federal standards.
  • Analyze contractor proposals, bids, and change orders for FAR/compliance.
  • Quantify drawings and specs to develop cost estimates at design stages.
  • Incorporate UFCs, Service Instructions, and codes to ensure buildable estimates.
  • Develop cost models and pricing databases for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with PMs, COS, engineers, and contracting officers on scope alignment.
