Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent / SSHO for federal construction projects in the Chicagoland area. You will lead field operations, manage subcontractors, review plans and schedules, and ensure safety and quality across the project lifecycle.

The role combines project execution with site safety leadership on government and military facilities, requiring strict EM 385-1-1 and OSHA compliance. Excellent compensation and benefits accompany a long-term backlog.

Qualifications

• Experience managing federal construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA.
• Ability to lead safety programs on site.

Responsibilities

• Lead all onsite construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and self-perform crews.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure milestones are achieved.
• Conduct daily coordination meetings and oversee work sequencing.
• Review plans, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure quality execution.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and owner walkthroughs.
• Track productivity, manpower, equipment utilization, and project progress.
• Maintain project documentation including daily reports, photos, and field records.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
• Serve as the Site Safety and Health Officer on federal projects.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Accident Prevention Plans (APPs).
• Prepare and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee training sessions.
• Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Coordinate with government safety representatives and project stakeholders.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns while implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation and reporting requirements.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
