Job summary

Absher Construction is seeking a Safety Manager (SSHO) to lead safety implementation on federal construction projects and serve as on-site safety authority.

You will ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and the project Accident Prevention Plan, mentor teams, and partner with Superintendents and Project Managers to embed safety into daily work.

This role requires a strong field presence, 5+ years of safety experience, and OSHA 30 certification.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction safety experience, including EM 385 projects.
• Experience as SSHO or equivalent on federal projects.
• Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA.
• OSHA 30 cert required.
• First Aid/CPR cert required.
• Experience conducting inspections and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce the project APP and Site Safety Plans.
• Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements.
• Conduct jobsite safety inspections, hazard analyses, and investigations.
• Lead safety orientations and toolbox talks.
• Review subcontractor safety plans and JHAs.
• Maintain safety documentation and records.
• Serve as Competent Person for safety disciplines.
• Partner with Superintendents to integrate safety into planning.
• Identify hazards early and mitigate risks before work begins.
• Act as safety liaison between project team, subs, and client.
