Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Safety Manager experienced in federal construction to lead safety programs across government projects, including Port of Entry work and contracts with GSA, USACE, NAVFAC, and VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 58 years of progressive safety experience on federal construction projects, with demonstrated roles as Safety Manager or SSHO on projects for GSA, USACE, NAVFAC, Port of Entry, or VA preferred.
• OSHA Outreach Instructor certifications and credentials: OSHA 500 (trainer‑authority) and OSHA 502 (Construction Outreach Trainer) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with federal agency safety standards and specifications (USACE EM 385‑1‑1, NAVFAC safety requirements, GSA and VA guidance) and 29 CFR 1926/1910 regulatory compliance.
• Certifications such as CSP, CHST, or similar are preferred.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required; experience managing AED programs and medical readiness on site.
• Proven experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong leadership, and ability to influence field and office staff; experience presenting to government clients.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, travel to project sites, and support flexible hours for construction schedules.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances or background checks; Port of Entry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or Safety Manager on federal construction projects; ensure on-site compliance with applicable regulations and client requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain project‑specific safety and health programs, plans, and procedures including SSHPs and JHAs.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits; identify and correct unsafe conditions; track findings.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
• Design and deliver safety training for personnel and subcontractors, including OSHA outreach courses and site orientations; maintain records.
• Manage emergency response and medical readiness programs on site, including AED oversight and emergency action plans.
• Coordinate safety with contracting officers, CORs, inspectors, and client safety representatives; represent the company in safety meetings.
• Oversee subcontractor safety performance, pre-qualification, and daily compliance; enforce safety requirements and stop-work authority.
• Maintain safety records, dashboards, and metrics; perform trend analysis and continuous improvement actions.
• Stay current with OSHA regulations and federal agency guidance; support procurement and design reviews to identify safety considerations early.
