Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Backup and Recovery Specialist, Mid, to design, implement, and optimize enterprise data protection in federal IT environments. You will oversee backup policies, storage architectures, and recovery workflows to meet continuity objectives.

You will lead complex restore operations across hybrid on-premises and cloud platforms, mentor staff, and provide guidance on data protection standards and reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years in data backup and recovery or related IT roles.
• Proficient in backup/recovery for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Hands-on with enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with monitoring and documenting backup configurations and runbooks.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Analyze performance; tune concurrency, bandwidth, and storage tiers.
• Perform complex restore operations and DR exercises.
• Implement backup encryption, key management, and RBAC.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks with teams.
• Integrate backup with monitoring and reporting dashboards.
• Troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection and documentation.
