Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Disaster Recovery Specialist to lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive DR strategies for mission-critical IT services in a regulated federal environment.

This role guides risk assessments, coordinates tests, and collaborates with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure backups, RPOs, and recovery objectives align with resilience goals and audit requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, CS, business admin, or related field.
• 4–7 years of disaster recovery, business continuity, or resilience experience.
• Proven DR plans, risk assessments, and testing experience.
• Active SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain/maintain.
• U.S. citizenship required for federal contracting.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Less than 10% travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, runbooks, and playbooks with RTO/RPO and protocols.
• Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical systems and dependencies.
• Coordinate disaster recovery testing with tabletop, partial/failover events; document results and remediation.
• Partner with infrastructure, apps, network, and security teams to ensure backups and HA meet objectives.
• Monitor IT changes to keep DR docs and inventories accurate.
• Deliver training and awareness on DR procedures and decision paths.
• Ensure DR plans comply with policies and audits; prepare evidence for reviews.
• Track DR metrics and recommend improvements for resilience.
