Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company is seeking a Backup and Recovery Specialist, Mid to optimize enterprise backup and recovery services in a federal IT environment. You will design policies, storage architectures, and DR workflows to meet business continuity goals.

You will lead complex restores, implement encryption, and guide junior staff while coordinating with operations and stakeholders on data protection standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years in data backup and recovery or related IT infrastructure.
• Experience with physical, virtual, and cloud backup workloads.
• Hands-on with enterprise backup tools: NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault.
• Strong problem solving and ability to resolve complex issues independently.
• Experience with monitoring tools and maintaining runbooks and recovery procedures.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads, including policy design and capacity planning.
• Analyze backup infrastructure performance and tune concurrency, bandwidth usage, and storage tiers to meet targets.
• Perform complex restore operations and disaster recovery exercises.
• Implement backup encryption, key management, and RBAC for data protection.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks and coordinate failover drills.
• Integrate backup systems with monitoring and reporting tools for dashboards and metrics.
• Troubleshoot backup job failures and drive root-cause analysis.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection, recovery operations, and documentation.
