Job summary

Aecon, a North American leader in infrastructure, seeks a Federal Audit Specialist to join our Federal Compliance Team in Charlotte, NC. You will support audit readiness, internal control assessments, and policy development across the federal contracting environment.

Reporting to the Federal Audit Director, you will collaborate with Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, Legal and project teams to strengthen controls and deliver timely corrective action plans. U.S.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management or related control function.
• Foundational knowledge of federal contracting compliance requirements.
• Experience drafting or reviewing policies, procedures, SOPs, internal control documentation, or compliance monitoring tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present results to management and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform federal audit readiness reviews and compliance assessments across the Federal Business Unit.
• Develop audit scopes, testing approaches, and management reporting to support audit readiness and decision‑making.
• Evaluate compliance with Aecon policies and applicable federal contracting requirements (FAR, DFARS, CAS, etc.).
• Assess key contract processes and controls such as timekeeping, cost accounting, and procurement.
• Coordinate with multiple functions to drive timely completion of compliance activities.
• Travel up to 25% for audits and site visits.
