Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a senior leader to drive federal alternative delivery pursuits, focusing on Progressive Design‑Build and Design‑Build to Budget with national and regional General Contractors. You will lead executive relationships, shape teaming strategies, and work with CSLs and delivery teams to win high‑value federal contracts.

The role requires deep experience in federal AEC business development, extensive GC collaboration, and travel up to 40%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; 15 years of related experience.
Experience with federal architecture, engineering, and construction business development.
Direct experience with General Contractors on alternate delivery projects.
Knowledge of FAR Part 36 and two‑phase design-build procurement.
Strong executive relationships and teaming agreement experience.
Willingness to travel up to 20–40% as required by duties.

Responsibilities

Lead CDM Smith’s strategy and partnerships with national and regional General Contractors for federal alternative delivery opportunities (PDB, DB2B, DB, etc.).
Position CDM Smith as exclusive or preferred lead design partner and negotiate teaming terms.
Collaborate with CSLs and preconstruction teams to optimize pursuit strategies and teaming agreements.
Develop and maintain a qualified pipeline of federal opportunities and relationships with prime contractors.
Translate procurement criteria into competitive designer‑led subcontract or JV structures.
Manage risk, constructability, and design validation through pursuit and early delivery phases.
