Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a Field Engineer to support federal AI projects, partnering with government customers to build production-grade data pipelines and documentation. You will work across Product, Engineering and Operations, learning use cases and delivering practical solutions.

The role blends customer delivery with product and engineering, requiring a generalist software mindset and strong collaboration. TS/SCI clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a customer-facing engineer or in a similar hybrid role.
• Hands-on technical experience working with clients in pre- or post-sales capacity.
• Development experience with Python, JavaScript, or other modern languages.
• Strong engineering background in computer science, mathematics, or related field.
• Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to present credibly to executives and front-line engineers.
• Comfort communicating across internal and external teams.
• Intellectual curiosity, empathy, and ability to move quickly.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end data integrations that sync customer data to and from Scale's platform.
• Work with customers' engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and API design.
• Design and maintain playbooks, internal tools, documentation, and SDKs for long-term success.
• Partner with engineers and Operations to resolve blockers and own escalations.
• Own the customer's technical experience throughout their time with Scale.
• Identify customer-specific feature requests with Account Executives and Product Managers.
• Develop expertise in large language models, 2D image annotation, and API integrations.
• Represent Scale and engage with customers at major events.
