Job summary

Preferred Materials, Inc., a CRH Company, seeks a Quality Control Roadway Technician to support asphalt testing and roadway projects in the Tampa area. Must hold FDOT Roadway Levels I and II certifications and perform sampling, testing, and documentation for material compliance.

Responsibilities include aggregate testing, HMA production testing, roadway construction testing, and maintaining the test result database. A valid driver’s license and ability to work nights/weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Must have current FDOT Roadway Level I and II certification.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for the territory of operation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests on Hot Mix Asphalt and component materials to determine compliance with specifications.
• Assist in mixture adjustment and lay down operation.
• Aggregate Testing & HMA Production Testing: sampling and gradation determination.
• Roadway Construction Testing: temperature, layer thickness, density, sampling.
• Maintain test result database: input data.
• Drive a pickup truck or passenger vehicle.
