Job summary

Preferred Materials - Asphalt Region in Florida is recruiting a Quality Control Roadway Technician to conduct tests on Hot Mix Asphalt and component materials, ensuring specification compliance. Role requires FDOT Roadway Level I and II certifications, safe operation of measuring devices, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities include sampling, testing, data entry, and supporting mixture adjustments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current FDOT Roadway Level I and II certification is required.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Ability to read and use measuring devices.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be punctual and able to start on time.
• Willing to work nights and weekends.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tests on Hot Mix Asphalt and components to verify specifications.
• Assist in mixture adjustment and lay down operations.
• Perform aggregate testing and HMA production testing.
• Test roadway construction parameters: temperature, layer thickness, compacted density.
• Maintain test result database and input data.
• Operate a pickup truck or passenger vehicle.
