Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking workers for agricultural labor focused on dairy cattle care during the employer's seasonal winter period. Duties include feeding, watering, moving, bedding, and caring for cattle and calves, and assisting with milking operations as needed in Idaho.

Housing is employer-provided, meals are furnished, and optional weekly transportation to stores is available when cooking facilities are provided. Three months of recent verifiable experience and ability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Responsibilities

• Feed, water, move, bed, and care for dairy cattle and calves.
• Clean and maintain pens, barns, alleys, feeding areas and livestock facilities.
• Assist with milking operations and cattle preparation for milking.
• Operate farm equipment such as tractors, skid steers, loaders and feed wagons.
• During winter, provide extra bedding, remove snow/ice, and ensure safe livestock areas.

Job description

Workers will perform agricultural labor related to the care of dairy cattle during the employer’s seasonal winter period of increased labor need. Duties include feeding, watering, moving, bedding, and caring for cattle and calves; cleaning and maintaining pens, barns, alleys, feeding areas, and livestock facilities; assisting with calf and maternity care; and operating farm equipment such as tractors, skid steers, loaders, and feed wagons. Workers will assist with milking operations as needed, including moving cattle, preparing cows for milking, attaching and removing milking equipment, and cleaning milking facilities and equipment. Winter duties include providing additional bedding, scraping and cleaning livestock areas, removing snow and ice, maintaining safe livestock areas, and assisting with frozen or restricted water systems.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
